Amachree Isoboye Afanyaa(Biography)
Education is about the most important factor which influences an individual’s aspirations and ambitions for life. I did my college education at the University of Port Harcourt, Uniport in Nigeria. I chose this college for two major reasons;  Course of study  Proximity I studied biochemistry which is a four year program. During this period the most interesting course for me was in my final year; my project. The project was on the analysis of the nutritional value of Digiteria Exilis ( Acha) a grain under the Millet family. It opened me up to what a research work was all about. I spent so much time during this period in the laboratory and in cyber cafes sourcing for information. I got to meet so many people in course of the project Growing up as a young boy I have always been fascinated with the idea of independence when Mum and Dad are not around and you have to take some major decisions based on your experience and association. I got to meet so many people from different backgrounds. One experience out of so many that will always be dear to me was meeting someone who had read this particular novel that i have read too; the title of the Novel is ‘The man who tapped from the secrets of the universe’ by Walter Russell. We were all reasoning alike and our approach to issues was very similar. It opened my mind to the fact that individuals can actually reason on the same level and come up with solutions to problems and issues buttressing the saying that ‘birds of the same feather flocks together. It defined my reasoning greatly. It might sound awkward to some to find a science inclined individual working in HR, for me I did not choose where I am presently working, rather it chose me. I love meeting people, interacting and exchanging ideas. During my college year I was involved with voluntary organizations that were geared towards motivating young people to be purpose driven and make their lives count. I enjoyed it so much. So when the opportunity came for me in HR I took it, because it was reliving my passion in a way. What you do on a regular basis defines who you are, because you spend all your time carrying out that task and in my opinion the human life is expressed on the scale of time. So whatever you use your time for defines your person. So the job you do to a great extent is an expression of your person. I was employed on the 5th of May, 2008. My first day at work was really a tough one I must say. When I got to the office I was really excited and was looking forward to the job. My boss started by welcoming me and the very first assignment I was given was to study the documents in the department to know where the department had been, where it is now and to see what the future holds. I must say this paid off for me. The most significant moment for me in my professional experience so far was winning the confidence of my boss with regards to delivering jobs on target. Working for me is all about sharing what you know with others (colleagues) so as to build capacity for the future, because what share stays with you, but what you keep with you without sharing dies with time. In doing my job, what has been very easy is the co-operation i get from my colleagues directly or indirect. While on the hand, what i find difficult is un-co-operative atmosphere. Aside the extrinsic benefit of my job, what really motivates me on the job is the intrinsic benefits. Being purpose driven is everything for me, because when you know the purpose behind a thing then you will appropriate yourself accordingly Being a professional is all about getting a task done in an atmosphere of satisfaction and being paid for it. I realised this from the very beginning of my employment All work and no play makes Jack a doll boy and all play and work makes Jack a mere toy. For me I try to balance work and private life by drawing lines, but i must say it is not that easy. I am married with a son, my wife has been so understanding in this regards. I try not to occupy my weekends so I can spend good time with my family. I am happily married to my beautiful wife, Tina is her name. I call her my ‘Wonder Woman’ and we have three lovely Children, two boys and a girl; Jezreel, Jorel and J’olivia
